Mt. Morris Community Library Foundation

Purpose

The Mt. Morris Community Library Foundation was established in 1998 as a charitable 501(c)(3) organization. Its purpose is “to encourage, receive and distribute funds which will benefit the Mt. Morris Public Library.”

Membership

Foundation membership is open to anyone wishing to support the Mt. Morris Public Library. Annual dues are $5.00 per person. (See "Opportunities for Giving" for other levels of membership.) As a member, you will be kept informed of Foundation events and you may volunteer to help with any of the various activities if you wish.

Events/Activities

Annual Meeting
The annual meeting of the Foundation will be held July 29 at 2:00 p.m. at the library. All Foundation members are encouraged to attend. A brief business meeting will be held, new board members will be elected, and refreshments will be served. Annual dues may be paid at this time. Those wishing to become members are welcome to attend.

Items for Sale

Profits from the sale of the following items will go toward the Mt. Morris Public Library building project. Items may be purchased at the library or at most of the fundraising events. Great gift ideas! Bronze Sculpture 30 limited editions of the 24" bronze sculpture designed for the library by Jeff Adams are available for purchase. The price is $2,700, of which a deposit of $1,620 (plus $101.25 tax) is payable to Jeff Adams and the tax deductible balance of $1,080 is payable upon delivery to the Mt. Morris Community Library Foundation. The sculpture may be seen at the library.
The sculpture was inspired by Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn. The following poem by Emily Dickinson appears on the reverse side:

He ate and drank the precious words,
His spirit grew robust;
He knew no more that he was poor,
Nor that his frame was dust.
He danced along the dingy days,
And this bequest of wings
Was but a book. What liberty
A loosened spirit brings.
